Star Wars Armada: Painting Fighter Squadrons

Hey all, Eric here. Again a catch up post. One of my regular commissions pinged me about possibly painting Star Wars Armada fighter squadrons so I wanted to share the results of my experiments.

While ultimately we couldn’t come to an agreement on the commission, I still forged ahead doing some test paints on my own squadrons:

I have to say I’m very happy with the results. I haven’t really painted at this scale before and I was worried I wouldn’t be able to hang with the level of detail I wanted. I was pleasantly surprised that I could consistently do things like the triangle on the A wing aces.
I wanted to be able to differentiate between the generic squadrons and the aces so I was trying alt paint schemes for guys like Soontir Fel.

I also got some 3d printed ships (sprinkled into the above pics) just to add some variety to the armada.

I was pretty happy with the results on those too.  I think it’s good for me to paint in a scale that’s outside of my comfort zone both larger and smaller.  I’ve shelved the rest of the squadrons (Because I have tons) for now, but once I take a break from my Word Bearers, they’ll definitely be on my list to paint again.  🙂
